Hello there. I have a gorgeous Broil-Quik Super Chef rotisserie oven. It was working fine until this morning when the heating element wouldn't come on. The rotisserie rotates and the oven on indicator light works but the appliance outlet as well as the heating element doesn't work.

I opened it up to take a reading and found that current does go through the heating element but current doesn't go through the appliance outlet which is one of the stops on the way to the heating element. I believe the "Bake/Broil" selector lever is bad seeing there's no current coming out through that conduit there so I thought about bypassing the bake/broil switch and appliance outlet since the rotisserie rotates at either setting. I just don't need to use the appliance outlet. Everything inside is clip so it would be a matter of disconnecting some of the red wires and reconnecting to avoid the bake/broil switch and appiance outlet.

Does anyone have any thoughts--is this a good thing or is there somebody that fixes these. It's the best top grill I have in the collection.

Can you post a picture of the unit? I think I have one that you're certainly welcome to have. You can either use the one I have or take the parts off it to fix yours.

Where in Connecticut are you located? I'm in Rhode Island. So, depending on where you are, you could drive up and get it, saving me the necessity to ship it to you.

Would appreciate the Broil Quik--thank you, Ron

A drive to Rhode Island is just fine--would love to have it. Here's the picture.

Mine has the indicator light on the top and the switch and appliance outlet on the bottom. I've seen some--even my owners manual shows a different version with the indicator light below where the outlet should be. It's a thing of chromium beauty. That's the one that Raymond Loewy from General Motors designed and I love the design of the grill on the top--my RotoBroil 400 has the plate you lift off with a handle--just makes a mess. The Black Angus models I own have a grill plate that is very flat--grease would just fall right onto the heating element.

I could go on. Anyways, thank you, Ron

Kenny,

The one I have is a little different, but I'm sure the parts are the same. I'll try to post a picture. In the meantime, let me know your schedule and when you'd like to take a ride up to Rhode Island.

Ron
