Burners needed for Frigidare Flair

I traded my Flair range for an old color TV.

The person who took the range just installed it, and found some of the burners not to work. She e-mailed and asked if I could help her find some. I'll be mailing her a link to this thread, as she has a lot of other vintage stuff.

So can anyone suggest a source?

Flair

More often than not, on Frigidares of this vintage, the wires connected to the burners become brittle and break from the motion of flipping the burners up, to clean beneath. The speed heat control for the left front burner is always the first to go and can be the reason for the speed unit not working. That said, if you truly need burners they're easy to find, both new and used. I have burners if you can't find them closer.

And on the speed heat, it might be the fuse. (Some models had a fuse, some didn't) On mine, the fuse is located in the ridiculously inconvenient place: Under the top cover of the stove - above the ovens - in the left rear corner.

But don't get me started on those thermostatic burners.

I agree with Kelly. The wires on my mom's '49 Westinghouse, although a fairly thick gauge, have a history of breaking off right at the terminal on the more frequently used burners and it usually results in one coil not heating. Stripping off a bit of insulation and making a new loop on the wire to go around the terminal screw fixes the problem. This may be all that's wrong with the Flair.

I don't know about finding new ones. Frigidaire used the thick coil style, I don't know if they're available anymore.

If one absolutely must, is it difficult to change over to a modern plug-in "calrod" element?

New Burners

An after market, thick coil burner is still available, but no speed heat switch, sensi temp, or the switch that Frigidaire used that only turns 90 degrees and then back to off.
