the model and approximate year of this GE? I'm guessing early to mid-'60s since it has the "piano key" buttons? It looks like it will be replacing a pretty BOL 1970s Hotpoint 30" in Harvest Gold at our summer place. Wife is crazy about Poppy or whatever GE called that color ever since she saw one at PhilR's, but she could care less about the actual range... and that's OK since I do the cooking!

The Red One

is a 1961 model. I have never seen any color-specific advertising, have no idea what they called this other than "Red". This model was also available in white, and was the TOL 30" model. I had one when I first moved here to Mobile, but it had been ridden hard and put up wet and in the end I sold it.

My bad - This range is the Red version of Model J304V. TOL 30" range would have been Model J308V. That's what happens when I work from memory......

the rings...

are in the oven! LOL.
Actually I also have a complete set of original NOS GE rings for this that a long time GE/HP dealer gave me about 10 yrs ago, telling me he'd never be able to sell them!

Thanks for that info Lawrence! J304V it is.

could be...

I haven't seen a red GE of this vintage before, almost always one sees Poppy Frigidaires of '70s vintage like this set which just like PhilR's, these being from 1975.

Wonder if this GE was the 1st bright red electric range? Chambers had red gas ranges in their "C" series previously. Seems to me I've seen a red '50s electric in the past, but no recall now of what it was.
