That machine is 70's at the oldest, and looks as if it has been put through its own wringer.

Yeah, it certainly couldn't be as old as the owner claims -- the Maytag logo is at least from mid-60s at best but I believe rp2813 is right about the actual age...

1966 or later

The turquoise release bar means it's mid-1966 or later.  It's probably worth $40 if someone close by wanted to grab it but it certainly isn't worth a road trip with gas at $4/gal. or having it shipped.
