My sister purchased this decorative tile at a Goodwill where she lives (Tavares, Florida) for $1.99 and asked me if I thought it was worth anything since she knows I like vintage stuff, all I could find on the web was that the Lackner Company made clocks and signs, nothing mentioned about anything else can someone help my sister and I with this oddity?
Sorry the pic is so small, if I try to blow it up it blurs it too much the image is obvious and the caption reads....
"Oh, a happy man is Tony and he's really very smart because he earns his pennies from the music in his heart". the back of the tile says "double duty Americana tiles, for hotplates, percolators, or for delightful wall decorations, copyright 1943 lackner Cin. O. USA
Thanks,
Vinnie
Debbie (sister)

Did you try searching terms like "Lackner collectibles" or "Lackner tiles" or "Lackner collectors"? You might find references to collector's books that would go into more detail about the products if not collector's clubs. If there are people who collect major appliances who have a website, there must be a group or groups that love decorative tiles that can be found, too. Since you are mainly trying to find present day value, I won't suggest looking at the manufacturer's catalogs which might be found in a large library.

I would tell you what I have heard from most collecting advisors, if you like it, that's all the worth it needs. The fact that your sister found it and thought of you will add an extra dimension to its worth. If you decide to use it, put those little adhesive felt dots on the back so that it won't scratch surfaces.

Unless your sister was likening you to an organ grinder or his monkey she sounds like my little sister and we love each other a lot.
