i love celebrity autobiographies, the juicier the better, and the more screwed up they were the better too! i can relate more that way!

this little book caught my eye at the bookstore last week and i added it to my collection. talk about fun to read! carrie fisher writes her memoirs and shares her life as debbie reynold's daughter, princess leia, and alcoholic!

it's full of little tid bits about her mother too, for example, the time debbie reynolds gave all the women in the family (including carrie's grandmother) vibrators for christmas!

anyway, if you are a carrie fisher, star wars, and/or debbie reynolds fan, or just like celebrity memoirs in general this one is a must read!

I read a exscript on line, and quite honestly I wouldn't have bought it. I may check it out of the Library still, however.

The tone I got right from the start is she has father issues. Daddy ran off with Elizabeth Taylor, well hell who wouldn't have if they had the chance? Mommy was self absorbed, duhh.

Mostly, it reads like half the people at an AA meeting, except she is getting paid to tell her story. I hope it's cathartic. Jamie Lee Curtis had a simular childhood, she writes children's books now, and does yougurt commercials. Everyone needs a way to feel validated.

Interesting...

I saw a little commercial-length interview with Carrie Fisher on one of the classic movie channels a few weeks ago, I think when I was watching the Bob Hope/ Bing Crosby "Road To..." movie marathon. She was talking about her mom, Debbie Reynolds. She gave the impression that her mom was a good parent who juggled her career and her family well, and was a positive role model for her.
