The machine might be of interest to some---a deisel-electric bulldozer!Maybe if you can win the lottery--this could be on the wish list-Would be fun to take this baby for a ride--and would make "pick&shovel" work fun!the machine has a deisel engine just like any other bulldozer--BUT-the engine turns a generator instead of a transmission.The "Tranny" on this dozer is ELECTRONIC!!Beleive this machine was introduced by Caterpillar in 2008.the output of the generator feeds into an invertor-the two outputs of the invertor feed into the AC drive motors that turn the rear track sprockets-thus rotating the crawler tracks.Watching this beast in action on YouTube sure makes you want to have one or climb aboard for a ride!The machine is demonstrated working in a landfill(unusual to see a dozer this small spreading waste)alongside its larger Cat cousins.The controls are simplified in this-the operator chair has two joystick like levers beside it-one for direction and steering,other to work the blade or other attachments.Cat has an excellent website that describes this fascinating machine---The Appliance That Moves the Earth?
