There not... Trust me... I have played with one for a while at a friends house and my frigidaire is far better

I saw one of these newer WP ovens next to a Frigidaire gallery oven and they both seemed pretty sturdy.

I didn't like the older WP ovens with the plastic control panels...i have seen many of the panels with cracks in them....about time they started getting their act somewhat together in the cooking field.

WP's new TOL gas and electric ranges look pretty good too. They even come with LED nightlights..pretty cool.

Whirlpool

In 1979 I did some cooking on prototype ranges for Whirlpool. I have never owned one and for my whole life time was slavishly devoted to GM Frigidaire. In 2002 I bought a new GE and in 2004 bought a new Maytag. Now I have a free older Whirlpool range. It is a dream to cook on. I had no idea and for many years had discounted them as worthy. As much as I loved the Frigidaire name I am still waiting to see a new one that moves me.

I think I saw the range version of that oven at Sears....

It was truly very nice.

Kelly...I think you outfitted that kitchen beautifully. I loved everything you put in there. I think your dishwasher was my favorite, but it's hard to decide.

Nates GE range is just the cats meow! He's got the "magic" touch, too. That Magic Chef dishwasher he refurbished is nothing short of spectacular.

AW!

You guys are too sweet ;-) Yes, Steve, I have that coil-top GE, and just ran the self-clean on the oven the other night. Flawless! All was delightfully incinerated. Nice to know the timed bake feature still works. Will was worried about burning down the house.

Kelly, I love your kitchen too! Excellent choice on the dishwasher ;-)

The Magic Chef uses 499.2 gallons of water, but has consistently done a good job...and I think nothing of sticking a crusty pan in there. It was a combined resto-effort/learning project that Roger and I worked on (and he taught me how to straighten dented aluminum trim with paint sticks, which was way cool).

Douglas, you'll be back in the realm of D&M heaven soon yourself!! :-D I can't wait to see your Kenmore back on its feet! :-)

What I don't like about many of the new stoves is the countup/countdown oven heat and timer functions on the control panel. Instead of just twisting a dial or entering the heat/time direct you have to stand there and hold an up/down button till it gets to where you want it.. The timer function on this stove we just inherited with the house is like that

If you look in my yahoo pictures you will see my Frigidaire Oven and Whirlpool Cooktop..

I don't like the Whirlpool ovens.. The one my friends mom has is a little older (2002 ish) and theres never bakes right or anything.. Its terrible.. Always to cold or hot.. Maybe these have impoved..
Mine is convection and has a side swing door, which i love.. Frigidaire may discontinue them and it would be a shame, but i would buy another Frigidaire Oven or Cook Top in a heart beat...The cooktop i orginaly orderd was a Frigidaire, but they never sent any mounting brackets with it, so i returned it and they couldn't get another in time for my house to be finished, so I had to settle on a Whirlpool.. Wich it's ok, but a little slow to heat and I also don't like the sleek black glass..Burners need to be spekled..

BTW-My micro hood is a whirlpool and it broke after 4 months of use...Because I bought it on Flebay from a Whirlpool dealer as a dsicontinued model, they wouldn't honor my warranty... The last microwave i had was a Kenmore that was recalled and it too never worked right...
I replaced it with a Frigidaire which according to CU is very reliable and every one seems to like them quite well.. I got it for $219 from sears with price match and coupons v.s. $248 at lowes and $339 reg. price at sears

If given a choice, I tend to go for GE ovens because I believe they are larger and heat more evenly, within the heating space...

I don't HATE the Kenmores....forget about the new Maytag, though.
