Let's do a Christmas Tree thread!

Here's a picture of our tree! Just finished hanging the ornaments and positioning the color wheels
tonight. The ornaments on the tree were my grandparents' (the ornaments my mom grew up with), purchased
sometime in the early 50s at Woolworth. 2 color wheels and a rotating tree stand, too! Aaaah, nothing says
"Christmas" like the smell of freshly-cut aluminum!

Robert and I took a walk around the block to see the house from across the little water reservoir at night -- and
the living room just radiates color!

Happy Holidays, everyone!

How pretty!

I remember those rotating lights! That is one classy Hoover in the background...last of the sweeps as it cleans but not beater-bars, wasn't it?

Steve, my grandmother used to fire stuff like that. You'd by the bisque, decorate it and they'd pop it in the kiln for you. Had to replace many of those plastic pieces a while back, they'd discoloured over the decades.

Thanks, both of you!

The vintage-look tree in Ogden

Finally! This is our 3rd Christmas in that house and the first one that we are actually able to put up all the decorations (year one we had just moved and last year we knew we were going start ripping out the old kitchen starting between Christmas and New Years). So, this year, I went nuts. I had been unable to decide what lights to use on the tree this year, but I finally went with the old C6 ones.

Dining room trees too!

I couldn't resist keeping an 'atomic' look to the dining room decorations! If only I could find a true turquoise aluminum tree... lol

Geeze

I just read this thread and had to race to set up my new old vintage aluminum tree... so here it is.. I'll have to go and get some more red balls and hangers, where do those wire hangers go... grrrrr

petek . . .

What a lovely room, especially after you replaced the old fuddy-duddy cookoo clock with that pretty modern one. The sofa is fabulous, great style and color! I think the room would be complete if you'd sprinkle a few Life and Look magazines on the coffee table - it looks a little lonely.

Love the tree Fred,

I have some of the very same teardrop ornaments. I love the effect of the color wheels!! Thanks for sharing. Here is a picture of mine.

Aluminum Tree!

We got one too!

My mom got it from her work several years ago. It was in a storage building inside of an old army trunk. It's complete and it's the first 7 foot aluminum tree i've seen! It's pretty big. It had the original box, but it was so deteriorated that I tossed it.

I think it fits in well in the front room. I found some neat 'Sputnik' ornaments at Target last year that look great on it. Of course, I have a color wheel for it too.

Regular Tree :)

We have a 'traditional' tree as well in the Great room. It's a 7.5 foot pre-lit slim tree. Where I put it, it barely clears the ceiling. (We have vaulted ceilings.) I had to buy a new tree this year because the old one got ruined when the basement flooded.
Instead of buying any new ornaments this year, I utilized what I already had. Target had a pretty dismal selection, and Wal-Mart didn't have anything I was interested in. I decided to use bubble lights as well. I think it adds a touch of nostalgia.
