Just in case anyone was seeking information on this years "Clean 05" in Orlando FLA, have posted a link below.

These conventions can be fun even if you do not own a laundry/dry cleaning business. Lots of vendors with exhibits showing off the latest in laundry equipment and chemicals. Since it's in FLA gather most will either head for the beach or golf course (possibly both?)after getting their fill of laundry stuff.

The question I have is, what's the current state-of-the-art in terms of ecologically sound dry-cleaning products? Last I checked (a few years ago), the most common chemicals used were potentially troublesome in terms of contributing to climate change. As a result I've tended to avoid wearing anything that needs to be drycleaned. On the other hand, if there are eco-safe chemicals and processes available, I'd like to know so I can recommend them.

ecology

The idea I get from watching tv is they want you to use energystar rated appliances eco frendly detergents and houshold chemicles and buy lots of Hemi powered SUVs! Whats the logic behind this theory?

freebies

The cool thing about these trade shows is that they give away some great freebies! These are potential collectors'items complete with logos! Would love to have anything with Speed Queen on it.

We may try to go. Orlando should be a great draw.

Dry cleaning

If something can't be put through the washer and dryer, I don't buy it. Not so much because of the ecology thing, but it's expensive and annoying to have to take things to and pick them up from a dry cleaners.

Latest Tecnology

Consumer Reports jsut did an article on the lates cleaning techniques that don't use the solvents. Some reluts were OK, some didn't come out so good.

Drmitch, different "theys." SUVs were an oxymoron from the beginning. A sports car is small, fast, and nimble. A utility vehicle is a truck, a real truck, like a farmer's stakebed or a contractor's dump truck ("tipper" for our friends in the UK). An SUV is basically a station wagon that got fat and needs to go on a diet. I call 'em Skid Upside-down Vehicles because they flip so often they should have decorative trim on their undersides:-).

Does anyone here know what happens if you put a "dryclean only" garment in the ol' automatic, even if set on delicate or permanent press with cold/cold water?

Washing

Depends on what the item is. Some things that say "Dry Clean Only" can actually be washed, but one is never sure what will really happen.
