J jeffg Well-known member Joined Jan 19, 2007 Messages 3,729 Oct 5, 2009 #2 Enzymes are targeted and better at stain removal, but IME they don't handle ground-in dirt or odors nearly as well as phosphates. So it's a trade-off. Better or worse depends on what's in your laundry basket.
