Companies now using just half of the good old names

We've all seen modern Chinese stuff branded with the good old names like Westinghouse, Sunbeam, etc. But this is the first time I've seen an appliance with just half the name. Clearly that's the good old Hotpoint logo, but they've chosen to just use the name 'Point'??

Maybe they know we're all wise to

those shenaigans now, or perhaps they feel the quality is up to snuff, and proud to apply their badge at last?

They couldn't use the Hotpoint name as it's owned by GE, and licensed to Haier.

Think of the ink that is saved without printing "HOT"

 

Soon Hoover will just be "Hoo".  Magic Chef will just be "Chef".  Maytag will be "Tag"
