We here have our own language and set of abbreviations, that we have all come to know and love.

In chatting with my sister about her pre-teen, pre-pubescent girl, (who is now CRAZY about IM-ing), it has come to my attention taht there is a whole OTHER set of computer and IM abbreviations that pertains to their world.

LOL
ROFL
LM(F)AO all pretty std. and universal.

POS- in THEIR world is *Parent Over Shoudler*

Anyone else care to share?
 
Here's a few I use when I chat with my friends

CJOK - Cat jumped on keyboard
HTTAD - Have to take a dump
JBCTMN - Just blew coke through my nose
DBPS - Distracted by Porn Site
IHWPULA - I hate when people use lame acronyms
IYNY - It's "you're" not "your" for _____ sake!
 
Here's my 2CW (2 cents worth)

Oh Steve....you have that teen girl IM'ing right on! OMG (oh mah gawd) I have a 14 YO (year old) here who does it 24/7!

I really shouldn't HAVE to post what the abbreviations mean, yall know them. But, I only realize JUST RECENTLY what you guys meant when posting "IIRC"...I almost started a new post a while back about the one's you guys here on the forum use.
Took me a while to for this ol fart to figure THAT one out.

Anywho...brb or bbl...ggp...(figure that one out yourselves, Im restraining from being rude right now....it's Advent, and I think I need to go to confession 2nite)

Steve-more rambling

When I first started chatting on the internet, hmm, like 10 freakin years ago....daily(back then)...for hours at a time....(had no life, and it was new...so..)

Writing to the "rest of the non computer connected world", and still have to resort to snail mail....I would find myself including amongst my handwritten letters, "LOL" and :-) along with a few others ASCII art symbols and chat lingo acronyms.

It was rather funny seeing folks who were not connected at the time ask you later, "What the &^%$ are you talking about?"
 
LOVE abbreviations. Here are some others NOT from cyber-space.

Boss did not know:

PIC=> Person in charge.
WCB => will call back.

AND SOME OF MY PERSONAL LESS-WELL-KNOWN-FAVORITES.

VPL=> Visble panty lines
DVPL => double visible panty lines (front too)
BFAD=> better from a distance
MBFAD=> MUCH beter from a distance
CFMPs- Come find me pumps.
