I saw a coppertone set of JC Penny's washer and dryer in the trade in trailer at Lowes today. It's the one off Post Rd,north of I70. Looked to be in decent shape.First set I ever saw in Coppertone.
If I could have got them in the back of my semi,I would have. Someone in the area should check 'em out.

OK, I've always wanted to ask this.
Are these machines free for the taking?
I know it has been mentioned on here by
others about finding machines behind Lowes.
I've never driven behind Lowes and have
two of them not far from me.

Did you go inside and ask permission or
is it just assumed since they are going
to be junked they are fair game?

It would be my luck to find and start
taking something and then have the police
called on me.

So what's the scoop??? Patrick

My Scoop

It probly depends on the locality and business. Last summer
I asked one of the local independant volume dealers if their
cast offs were free for the taking and they said no; these
are private property and that would be stealing. Thankfully
ignorance is bliss, as I had already snatched a nice blue
minibasket and filterflo filter; on the other hand, the local
Sears outlet, not a big store, didn't have a beef with
salvaging.

It depends. Most times I go in and ask, since it is private property, most places don't have a problem letting you grab them.Sometimes they tell me that someone is already picking them up,but if there is something there I really want,a few sheckels shown to the proprieter usually works. However,if it's sitting in an alley,or at a curb,I feel it's fair game for anyone.

One of the appliance stores here sells their "pick-ups" or "trade ins"Others go to the Ayden Swap Shop.the operator of it keeps an eye on the places that have the trade ins-and huals them off.You would think the Big Box place or Sears would be GLAD to have someone hual away the trade ins.-esp if they are old-no value to the big box place-but to collectors!
