Anyone ever use a paint that will create a very highly reflective almost mirror like finish on metal or highly prepped wood? I have tried most of the Rust-oleum, Spatz and Duplicolor products...they really produce a silver aluminum type of finish and at times a brighter finish....just not really a nice bright chrome type of finish. Anyone know of a product that does not have to be electroplated or the item submerged to produce the chrome type finish?

no...

this subject has been batted around in car restoration circles for years... nothing satisfactory can be sprayed out of a can, at least at this point in time, however there is a plastic film like foil that can be used to that end, in certain applications.

I think the closest you'll find for this sort of thing is a paint product for model builders called "Metalizer." It's made by Testors as part of their Model Master paint series and it has to be sprayed on with an airbrush. Then once it's dried properly it needs to be buffed out to obtain the chrome like reflective finish, though I don't believe they sell one that's actually labelled "chrome," so you'd have to go with aluminum instead.  It's primarily sold to aircraft and car modelers and is generally well regarded. But I need to mention that if you're going to be painting a large area this will be a rather expensive option. At about four dollars for one half ounce this stuff isn't cheep.
