Re: Crosley Washer/Dryer Combo:

Hi! Peter, I just checked out the Crosley Washer/Dryer Combo. Did you notice in the Specifications, that it has a Reversible Door? I thought that was interesting, given that it has a Window in the Door. It doesn't say if it operates on 110-volts/ac or 220-volts/ac Electricity, but I'm thinking that if it had the lower Drying times to select, it must operate on 220-volts/ac.

I've gone onto the site, where you can enter your Zip-Code and asked the Distributer to send me some Literature on all of their Laundry Appliances, including the Combo and I asked for 2-copies, so I could send a set to you as well. I will let you know when I receive them and can send the set to you.

If you should find out any further info before me, please let us all know what you find out and I will do the same.

Peace and Great Laundrying with a Crosley Combo, Steve

Hey Peter, maybe this will be a good answer for you! Looks like a really nice machine. Just wonder how much they are selling for. I still think that there is a good market out there for a combination washer/dryer.

What a cluster of machines that website looks like! Top load washers are definitely Whirlpool, the front loaders are somebrand, Frigidaire, and even an old Neptune. Strange...

DAEWOO

I called the headquarters and spoke to Ms.Chris Howard. These are manufactured in Korea by Daewoo!!!! They are 120 volts and condenser type drying. The door is reversable(why I don't know. if you have one of these why would it need a reversable door?)and no venting needed. It is not available yet though you are able to order them if you want. She said she couldn't give me a price quote but any of their dealers can.

Crosley!

First of all does anyone know the history of Daewoo reliabality? And unless I can get service I won't touch it.
I still think the combo model looks like a samsung and the regular washers look like LG. I could be wrong of course. I would never want to have another LG experience and I don't wish it on anyone. I don't want to get my hopes up but maybe it's a possibility.
Thanks for the information.
Peter

L.G is not the only direct drive washer. The original top of the line Samsungs were direct drive and there are a few others including Sharp and Sanyo.I doubt seriously if L.G would have the desire to make a washer with a reverseable door and not have that feature available on their own brand and models. Now,they may look a bit alike but remember, they're both made in Korea. They may be using the same suppliers for select parts like the door frame, wash tubs and electronic controls.I'd have to take them apart and see the inside to be able to tell. But they do not look even close to an L.G to me.I don't even see the little trap door for the pump protector does anybody else see it?am I missing something?

Crosley!

On the combo their is no trap door. But check out the website and you will notice the washers do have the trap doors and they do look like LG's. But maybe their not.

Yes pete,I saw that too but other features like the reverseable door would have been a serious promo feature on the L.G.s.I seriously doubt they would allow any of their engineers to make that feature exclusively for a competitor.I believe that there are parts manufactureres that make them for numerous brands made overseas and do not design them differently per brand.Just like the small and large doors on the front loaders. They might look identical to the L.G.but are probably made in massive amounts for different brands not made by L.G.Does that make any sense? For example, the door on the Hotpoint(U.K)is identical to the one on a Sanyo. They both have the cotrols on them but,the Sanyo door opens down on their combo model shown at the last KBIS.The Hotpoint opens to the side. The Sanyo is direct drive, the hotpoint is belt driven. The Sanyo is made in China,The Hotpoint is made in Spain. Why then do they look alike?

My dist. didn't have too much info for me, but I can see that some of the new fl's can be LG, since LG is making some of the new line of Crosley TV's. Most Crosley dist's also have been Zenith wholesalers (now made by LG). So there is a long relationship there. I should have more info shortly.

Daewoo

I went and took it on myself to go on line with Daewoo and sure as shit, their machines look identical to the ones made for Crosley.

Daewoo in the U.S.

The washer sites on that search are U.K. and elsewhere. The site I found for Daewoo Electronics America, Inc. lists microwaves, refrigerators, and window air conditioners, no washers. Maybe they don't market washers in the U.S. under the "native" label? P.C. Richard doesn't carry any, their alphabetic brand line-up jumps from Avanti to Eurotech.
