lLast April(2005)I bought a GE Wpxh208aww washer and a dpxh43eaww electric dryer on closeout at a competitor's store that was folding.I got the set for $499 and had them for 1 month.A friend of mine bought a KitchenAid Onsomble pair and didn't bother to measure before purchasing them.Once they arrived, she found out they were too deep and would not fit in her closset. She called me and I offered a swap.I had already Regestered both the washer and dryer on line(WWW.GEAPPLIANCES.COM)so they would be covered and wrote down the models and serial numbers in both use and care guides along with the date of purchase and where.Last week,my friend called to tell me the washer was not spinning properly and after I tried to trouble shoot over the phone,I came to the conclusion that the "mother board "might be the problem and being less than a year old,all I needed to do was call 1-800-GECARES sand schedule a service call for them to repair it right???? NOT!!!!!! Somehow the cheapass paper model and serial number that ELECTROLUX puts on these machines for GE came off.I received a call yesterday from my friend who imediately handid her phone to the tech and he said he could not service the machine without the model and serial number on it.I told him not only did I copy it and write it in the use and care guide but it was also regestered and I had just purchased a 4 year survice plan at work on both the washer and dryer for $180.00!He still refused to even touch it.I went as far as calling GE Customer service and they too said that without the tag, there would be no service.Nowhere on the machine or in the use and care guide dose it mention that GE will not service their product w/out there being any model or serial number tag on it.Plus, since I regestered on line directly to GE,they should have record of it.Boycot GE they do not stand behind their products.
