Hello all,
Recently, I have been using cussons morning fresh washing powder and I have to say, its prety good :)
I got it in poundland but B&M bargains also sell it. Today I have picked up another box but in a different scent which is Manderin and lemon blossom, the box I am currently running down is Water lily and jasmine. I also picked up a bottle of softener which is lime blossom and jasmine, the other scent option for the softener was Manderin and peach blossom which had quite a sweet and sickly smell sort of reminicent of starburst sweets (or Opal fruits as they were formaly called)
so, here is my verdict:

washing powder:
has a nice non overpowering scent
produces hardly any foam which means it rines out better from clothes
rinse water on the first rinse is usually clear after the main wash
dermatelogicaly tested (suitable for Eczema sufferers)

Softener:
not too over powering or sickly smelling like the Manderin and peach blossom version
gludgy but rinses out of the machines drawer well and does not stick
leaves washing smelling fresh but not actual scent from the softener can be detected which can be a good thing

Overall I find these products to be very good however I am yet to try the Manderin and lemon blossom powder.
Also, these products are made in Poland so Im wondering who makes them for cussons.
Anyway, enough from me :)

Hi Tom,

Since changing jobs I am very rarely near our B&M store. I notice on their website the packet of powder states it is "colour kind". Does it lack bleaching agents and OBA's?

99p for 10 washes is incredibly cheap, I must admit that kind of puts me off! I wonder how effective the detergent would be in the long term. Glad you are getting good results just now, however I do like the smell of detergent/softener on my laundry once it's dried.

I'm currently using Ariel Professional powder bought in Poundstretcher. £16.99 for 100 washes. I have found I only need half the stated dose as we have very soft water so in theory I should get 200 washes out of that box. A real bargain when you consider a 65 wash box of Ariel Bio now costs a staggering £19.50 in Sainsburys!!! Detergent prices seem to have gone through the roof, it definitely pays to shop around and stock up while special deals are on.

Hooray!

A British detergent that I can actually comment on!

I managed to buy some of the Mandarin and Lemon here in Oz a couple of years ago in the 'Reject Shop' - basically a Poundland or Pound Stretchers concept.

Thoughts - it's OK. I do agree that it is very low/no sudsing and it does rinse out very well. It also, however, struggles to shift anything in my opinion and is the box I keep forgetting to use when I grab the dog bedding to wash.

Now if I could get UK boxed Persil or Ariel here I'd be much happier!
