Hey guys...I have been wanting to remodel my kitchen to reflect a vintage look. I want to replace my free-standing range with a built-in wall oven and cooktop from the 50's or 60's era. Anyway, yesterday while driving through a residential neighborhood I found this Hotpoint Stainless Steel Wall oven! I couldn't believe it! I knocked on the door and an elderly lady answered. I explained my interest in vintage appliances and asked if I could have the oven. She was very pleased to give it to me and said she was glad to just have it off her property. She mentioned that it had been sitting at the curb for over 2 weeks and the garbage collectors didn't take it. I asked her if there was anything wrong with it and she stated that the lower heating element didn't work anymore and the appliance repairman said that these elements aren't available...hence she decided to purchase a new oven. I have a few questions concerning this model. First of all the model # is 10RJ3. Serial # 9794895. Is this a Customline model? What year was this made, does anyone know? Do you think it is possible that I could replace the heating element at the bottom? I wondered if the repairman just wanted her to buy a new one and just told her it wasn't available. The other thing is the oven is missing the oven racks. I asked the owner about the racks and she said that they had already been thrown away. I would love to purchase some racks and a heating element for the bottom if possible if someone knows how I could find these parts. I did notice that the element appears to be in fine condition. I have had several electric ovens before and my experience has been that the calrod units usually crack or disintegrate when they go out. I am including some pictures.....
