Hi,
I have a late 90's DD Whirlpool washer that started experiencing an overheating motor and shutting down. It always happens on the final spin cycle - it starts spinning, and the spin starts slowing down and finally, you hear an electrical "clicking" from the motor area, it starts to have a "burning" smell, and finally it shuts down. You can start it back up 5 minutes later and it completes the cycle. One interesting thing is that it only seems to happen when washing a load using a powdered detergent that produces an excessive of suds. Washer isn't overloaded when this happens either. Does anybody have any ideas on what is happening? Other than this issue, it's a great machine and I like that parts are very easy to find for it. Thanks in advance!

The clutch has to not be slipping enough. I've sudslocked many DDs (all washers outside of world washers to be frank lol), and the clutch always kept the tub at 100rpms or so without any issue.

Another possibility (guessing) is something is in the pump, or the transmission is starting to seize.
