Easier to wash dishes by hand in a summer cottage?
I read a vignette under a drawing in an old magazine about a family going to a vacation cabin. The father and kids are in the boat at the lake and the father happens to look up and see the wife and mother sitting on the porch, framed by clothes flapping on lines strung between the posts and says that it is good to see mom relaxing. Then there is a rundown of her life at the cabin of having to prepare meals in a primitive kitchen, wash dishes and clothes by hand and when she finally collapses in a chair to catch her breath, they think she is relaxing. Granted, this cabin looks better equipped, but still, unless the dishwasher blocks access to the kitchen when in use or has to be lifted over a door sill to be used, I think most people would opt not to spend time that they could be using for recreation washing dishes unless someone has a martyr complex.
