Desktop AW custom icon

Robert,

How hard would it be to design a desktop icon for AW? A lot of my sites have little custom icons on my desktop, and the AW icon looks so neglected with that old Microsoft standard "e" icon! How about the agitator that's on the front page of the forum?

If I recall correctly,

If you convert a small image to a 24-bit .bmp file, then rename it as .ico, it should work. Getting the background to be transparent is a little trickier, but it can be done.

Is it working, the icon you see is just a test? I want to make a better icon, I can only get it to work in FireFox, but not IE. Oh well, when I have some more time I will work on it some more.

Hi Robert,
I don't use IE as Firefox is a much faster and better browser but I did check for you. Its working for me on Vista Ultimate 64-Bit using IE7 32-Bit and IE7 64-Bit.

Don't have dyslexia so it must have been something else that
caused me to read "IEv6" as "Evil"...

Internet Explorer supports favicons since version 5.0. It is actually quite hard to make IE show the favicon. If the icon is not showing, try one of the following:

* Add the page to your favorites. If you already have the page in your favorites folder, remove it and add it again.
* Make sure, the icon file is called favicon.ico and it is placed in the root folder of your web server.
* Make sure, the path to the favicon in the header of your page is absolute, not relative.
* Delete your temporary internet files. If the folder with temporary files has reached its maximum, the favicon may not be used.

it works on Safari Version 2.0.4 (419.3) and Camino 1.5.1 on Mac OS X.

does not work on FireFox 2.0.0.6 on Mac OS X.
