That sure was an ugly color, the gold wasn’t very good. Either without the shading the coffee color brown wasn’t too bad.

Those Maytag gas dryers always had bad heaters, lol.

Back in the early 70s I was helping one of my bosses install a new Maytag halo of heat gas dryer. We took away a dryer that was only about five years old. Another Maytag halo heat gas dryer. He was trying to get the pilot to light on the new dryer and we figured out there was no gas there Started investigating went outside and the gas was turned off at the meter hadn’t paid the bill and the only thing in the house gas was the furnace in the dryer. The water heater was electric as was the stove and it was in the summer so they didn’t realize their gas had been turned off .

Customer said oh we’ll just keep the new dryer so we got a perfectly good dryer that we serviced and resold.

Gas valves are starting to get really tricky to find for those, sadly. Glad I stashed up on them, especially from free lower end machines I pillaged for parts.
