3 years ago when I moved into my rental duplex, we removed the Frigidaire dishwasher that was provided and put in my Kitchenaid. The Frigidaire has been in dry storage ever since. My question is are the seals still good and for how long? The machine is 10 years old. As far as I'm concerned, it will stay in storage longer, but wonder if it's worth trying to use at a later date. More seriously...

Not an appliance expert, and this is just one story... But there was a Kenmore portable in my childhood home's kitchen. It was there when we moved in ca. the mid-70s. We almost never used it--YEARS could go by. The last time it was used, it had probably been several years. There was a slight leak in front, and probably due to the door. Given what I've heard about D&M, that leak could well have been there from Day 1, and unfixable. There was NO other sign of problems, like finding a miniature Lake Superior under the DW when it was rolled back.

Again, not an expert, but I'd guess the "worth trying to use" would only be under limited circumstances. For example, you move, and you need to fill the hole the KA leaves. Or if the KA breaks and there absolutely no budget for six months for a dishwasher, and anything would be better than nothing.

Trying new appliances can be fun, but I have to think that after a KA, the Frigidaire would be...disappointing, and not worth the effort just to try...

Of course, I am biased--I have had 3 rounds with 2 different WCI Frigidaire washers, and that has left a rather bad taste in my mouth when it comes to Fridgaire appliances...
