About what time did Dixie stop making ranges or go out of business? I never see Dixie electric ranges online. But, one time we stayed at a beach motel, and it had an electric 20" Dixie. What was a little odd was the controls were on the back of the range, but most 20" I ever saw have them at the front. It also had a grounded convenience outlet, but no oven window.

According to this article, Dixie bought Magic Chef, continuing to use the Magic Chef name, and was bought out by Maytag in 1986. Maytag had bought Hardwick, also located in Cleveland, Tennessee, in 1982.

So Dixie didn’t go out of business, and the factory was in use until Whirlpool built a new one a few miles away in 2010. It doesn’t say when the Dixie name was phased out.
