This 1959 GE Mobile Maid dishwasher does not belong to me - I have been asked by the owner to help fix 'er up a little, though!

Some JB Weld will fix that up!

But I wondered if I should try to sand down the 'Rust Mountains' that have formed before applying the JB Weld. I figure this why that GE Plastisol stuff got discontinued...
Also, what might be an appropriate coating for the bottom of a dishwasher tub? I was hoping to find something that would harmonize with the pink tub...

I recently found mine in an apartment building they were fixing to tear down this summer .

At 1st I was going to either leave it behind or give it away .

Well, I fell in love with the machine & decided to take it home & keep it - The apartment building is now gone .

I love the 1950`s mobile maids :) They are beautiful to say the least.

That is like our first Mobile Maid. I really like the star pattern on the GE Textolite (their brand of plastic laminate) top. Funny how back then, we did not think about the noise from the machine or find it objectionable; it was washing dishes for us!

Do you or the owner have the other half of the detergent dispenser? After you repair the rust, you could scuff up the Plastisol in the sump and paint it with pink-tinted two part epoxy maybe.

Wishing you well on the restoration. I have one just like it with the same Textolite top Tom described.
It is a gift from Hans and Donald. I keep it in the kitchen for back-up and have fun using it every now and again. And, Oh, is it noisy! It has a self-contained hurricane!
