Well ladies and gentlemen...I hooked up my 1983 whirlpool washer I just love it!! I'm just curious what does the bottom part of the agitator do?

I'm not sure what the bottom part of these agitator does, but my dad had this same washer in the 80s. They should have kept it!

It greatly helps turn over big loads of clothing.
I had an '84 Whirlpool with the same agitator. John is right; that baby will turn over a BobLoad without breaking a sweat. Congratulations!
