Has anyone tried/used this? I am using my Pre-Tariff German Vernel and, when it comes time to replace it, I don't feel like paying the surcharge that Dummkopf/Scheisskopf  thought the Germans would be paying when he put the tariff on it. I like lavender and it is supposed to help to induce sleep so I thought I would try it. I thought I would get opinions before venturing out on a sniff test.

Thanks

Yes.  Bought it to try as an alternative to Snuggle Exhilarations Lavender & Vanilla Orchid.  Similar scent but seems slightly sweeter.  Hard to say.

Downy cap shape is funky for measuring.  Line 1 is largely impossible.  Dosage directs to use maximum Line 3 for HE "full capacity" loads ... which is a smidgen less than 1/3 cup, insane.  I never use that much.

I like lavender on bedding. Snuggle seems to last a little longer.  Neither one ends up particularly strong.  The AquaSmart's Bulky/Blanket cycle that I typically use for bedding rinses twice and the softener dispenser flushes both times so the 2nd rinse is a dilution.  I've taken to adding softener manually to the 2nd rinse.

I should try essential oil.

Mrs. Meyer's Lavender detergent

Smells wonderful in bottle, while laundry is being washed, and when things come out of machine. But after drying (line or machine) scent is faint to nearly nil. If something more long lasting and pronounced is wanted suggest using their FS as well.

Only line dry bed linens, and so notice scent of Mrs. Meyer's lavender while ironing things; but after airing and when putting away the scent isn't really noticeable. Ditto for bed clothes or anything else.

Now if light to faint scent is up your street, then Mrs. Meyer's should do fine.

Gain has come out with a new line of detergents with essential oils

Saw the lavender version at local Rite Aid, so took a quick whiff. Scent was rather pleasant fresh lavender; not that sickly horror that doesn't resemble at all.

Am working through a case of Mrs. Myers lavender, two bottles of French lavender detergent still aren't touched, two bags of Persil megaperls in lavender scent, so am spoiled for choice. Would have had my head handed to me on a plate if brought yet another bottle or box of anything home. *LOL*

Gain with Essential Oils

The Eucalyptus and Mint actually smells very good too. If Gain had better cleaning performance I would likely start using it. However, Gain and Tide Simply actually have the lowest dirt removal rating according to Consumer Reports.

Switched over to Amazon Smile where you can designate a charity to receive a contribution from your sale and the Downey Lavender was available there where as it had not been available on the regular Amazon. Maybe Amazon just restocked overnight. Anyway, I am gonna have some along with the almost impossible to find Melinda's hot sauce.

Am guessing Gain with essential oils is more of a light duty detergent meant for things not heavily soiled, bed and bath linens, those sort of things.

Wondered also what water temp CR used to test; given 120F-140F with maybe some oxygen bleach (with a smidgen of STPP) bet GWEO would do well enough.

Mint and lavender is a great combination, and many products go that way. Seventh Generation had a detergent and fabric softener "lavender and eucalyptus" which smelled heavenly.

And laundry this weekend?

Oh, sorry. I like it so much that I am giving the Vernel, both the Rose for sheets and the Fresh Morning for clothing, a rest. I find I like the lavender on bed linens a lot and on clothing, too. Thank you all again for the information and interest.

Regarding Vernel FS

Don't know how long you've had your bottles, but am here to tell you as with many others Vernel fabric softener has a definite shelf life. It will go off and separate into liquid and solids that no amount of shaking will return to a stable emulsion.

Am going to rubbish a few bottles of Rose Morning scent for just this reason. Tried using and the congealed solids left a mess in washing machine dispenser and marks on one's wash.

Oh yes, as with all scented laundry products Vernel's fragrance and staying power of same will begin to wane as it ages. Will smell nice enough in bottle, but after things dry scent is barely detectable.

Dried lavender

And other botanicals

You can also do it the old school way. Put dried lavender flowers in cotton teabags and tuck them in your linen closet or drawers. You can also hang them in your closet.
