Dryer Balls

If anyone is interested I saw generic dryer balls in the "Dollar Days" section of my local Rite Aid store. Two in a pack for one dollar.

2 balls for one dollar????? you want dryer balls???? stop using fabric softner on your bath towels!!!It takes away the absorbancy and causes chafing!!There should be no need for anybody to buy dryer balls when they can take care of that problem with little or no effort.Maybe some talcom powder after you shower or take a bath would help too.

I think the "sell job" on these is that there is more agitation and rubbing on the clothing to release more lint and absorb more static electricity so they "soften and condition clothes" There may be some chemicals in the "balls" that do create antistatic.
How about those "detergent balls" they were passing off at the New York State Fair as equal to 10 boxes of laundry detergent? They sucked too.

I'm not sold on dryer balls although I've been using them fairly regularly. I don't like the smell of fabric softener. The main thing I want out a softener is static control. The balls aren't very good at that. I haven't used any softener since getting my Duet pair about a year ago. I may end up trying a small amount that strikes a balance between static control without stinking up the towels too badly.
