Does anyone here think that dryer sheets are going the way of powdered detergents? It seems that the selection in the store just keeps getting smaller and smaller.

Ihope they do. They are a fire hazzard from all the film they create in exhaust vents and exhaust lines.

I'm happy with my BOUNCE dryer bar in my dryer, however if I am drying something heavy, the sheets do come in handy for when I want fabric softener, although I often do forget to toss in a sheet sometimes despite the box of 'em (currently use GREAT VALUE Lavender-scented, from Wal Mart) right on top of my dryer, over the door...
I'm someone who might miss them, but I'd be willing to do w/o fabric softener if I don't want a zipper on a coat beating my dryer bar to death during dryer; but I could just go to liquid fabric softener to use in my washer... (Although the price of liquid fabric softener, going up has really driven me to discontinue its use, if long ago I was fascinated w/ the many scents you could get & my mom's washing machines having a dispenser for it!)

I blew off liquid fabric softener 6 years ago. It waterproofs towels. It curdles on the shelf into something resembling spoiled yogurt. It grows mold in the dispenser.

I fully expect Peter to chime in here with details on how dryer sheets are a lethal choking hazard. Or they have been found in the lungs of dead children or something. Or sea lions and dolphins...

I dislike dryer sheets!
I hate dryer sheets with the hatred of a thousand suns.
I especially hate to use coin-op dryers that are simply slimy with dryer sheet residue, not that I use a coin-op dryer more than once a year or so.
I like and use liquid softener, but in the loads I choose. Currently, I am using unscented Downy.
