Are there currently any manufacturers who make dryers with reversing drums? I had an old whistling air flow Electrolux, that did this and it helped keep bedding from getting rolled into a ball.

As far as I understand, some higher end GE TL matching dryers have something called TangleProtect or something like that that is basically a toggleable reverse tumble.

I think it only comes on the electric versions though.

And than many compact dryers should do aswell - they are mostly adapted EU designs, so they often reverse a bit at least.

Clothes dryers that reverse rotation while drying

A dryer can be much better designed if it only runs in one direction it will dry clothing, faster, and more efficiently and as much less complex and problems prone.

There have been a few attempts in the US to make a reversing dryer none of ever been terribly successful. Last week had to work on a 1999 Frigidaire gallery gas dryer that reversed. What a pain in the neck work on and overly complicated. Frigidaire abandoned this design pretty quickly because it didn’t make any difference and only caused problems.

The only reason frontloading washers typically reverse is because it’s so darn easy it doesn’t add to the complexity, but they still can tangle. There’s no magic formula if it turns so many times and so many times the other way it won’t ball up things so there’s really no benefit even in a washing machine, but not much disadvantage either.
