Ha!
What a hoot! The one thing they forgot is: Dryers are now becoming more and more efficient - we are moving away from traditional electric dryers towards heat pump models and condensing models that use less electricity.
And convincing people that its the fault of people in the 1950's for making is so dependant is wrong: Back then, GE and other companies (incl. the Government, I imagine) were betting on Oil never running out, Nuclear power and the non-existence of Global Warming. We didn't know then, so why blame them? Of course, it is kind-of their fault, but keep it to the picture: Focus on the issue NOW, rather than who caused it and such.
Besides, not all of us want to line dry each and every piece of clothing. We like fluffy towels. And really, if you don't like being "restricted" from clotheslines, you might just have to move houses - people have to be aware of the conditions of living in planned communities.
