Might anyone on here have a copy or PFD file of the Instruction booklet for a early 50’s Hotpoint 24” Range?
I found this stove at a local thrift store and have been using it for a few years ago. The oven temperature is true and all the burners work great. I Just don't know the finer points of Its use and how to get the most out of it. It has time controlled oven but not really sure how to operate this feature. I’m also curious on the over shelf position for baking or broiling. It has two shelves one flat and the other is half a position higher or lower depending on the way it is placed. Not sure what that is all about? Any printed material or electronic file on this stove would be greatly appreciated.

Hotpoint book

This is Hotpoint country...but I didnt know they even made a 24 inch range,ge did but I have never seen a Hotpoint,I have tons of manuals, but not this one,I will check with our local dealer...who has sold Hotpoint since 1949 and collects stoves, don't know if it will turn up anything...but it might.

LOL I mean GE

I can believe I posted that thread stating Hotpoint LOL! I was looking at an old cook book that came with my parents old Hotpoint 42 in range. and had Hotpoint on my mind. I'm really not that brain damaged. It's been a long day LOL

That's a neat stove. It had the same size oven as the master oven in the 40" range. Some GE ads showed two of those for large families or special kitchens to give two full size ovens and 8 surface units in only 48" of space.

Actually any GE range manual from that period will give you the finer points you seek. They are often for sale on ebay or in flea markets.

The offset shelf helped stretch the capacity of the oven. It gave more height when in the down position. If you had rather shallow items on the flat shelf and that shelf was in a lower position, you could use the offset shelf two positions above the flat shelf and still have adequate space for heat circulation while gaining some capacity for a taller item like a roast or a bird. Turned over, it would give more vertical space over items on the flat rack. It is also helpful in achieving the exact placement in inches from the broiler unit. There might be a series of numbers on one side of your oven and letters for the rack positions on the other side. The use and care book would give the distance from the broil element for food placement, but then you had to figure in the height of the broiler pan and the item on it. The offset shelf gave flexibility beyond that of the straight shelf. Basically, if you have gained experience in broiling, you know that closer is for more intense heat and rarer results and further away gives gentler broiling for chicken and more well-done foods.

I will try to remember to look up the timer instructions. They are not impossible, but require specific steps in exact order. The later clocks with separate dials for start and stop were simpler to set.

24" hotpoint stove

Hi, This is the same model stove I accidently dropped off my truck while on my way to work a few years ago. Of course I had to drop it right in front of where I worked!! Anyway I think I have the slide out porcelain drip trays for this stove if you need. Merry christmas,Walt
