Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

Interesting!  It's definitely an early one - the half-arm wash arm at the rear of the tub to ensure the upper rack contents got at least some washing is not present in this dishwasher.  I've got a 1965 version, a Kenmore 600 that has the half-arm, so I'd be very curious as to what year the one for sale is from.

That thing is mint! The pushbuttons, the styling, the wow factor: Kenmore really has no equal. Always cherished Whirlpool's humility in so often letting its Kenmore children win the pageant.

Would love to hear the story.

Thanks.

Sears was famous for long-term contracts for suppliers, particularly those like D&M which they did not own/have large holdings in. I'd also speculate that dishwashers were more a part of their built-in appliance (i.e. remodeling) and stove business (which never was really top-quality) rather than laundry/refrigeration.

For someone who was remodeling and valued a good dishwasher, they were using an independent designer and getting a KitchenAid/Thermador.

Sears was much better served in that era by being specified throughout a 1984 condo development (for example) for 500 units being built (where we have a condo in Palm Springs) and having piece costs be low.
