Okay everyone, this will be a tad bit more effort, as I have no way to get to the place again soon, storage or will to own one. I have no pictures of it, but trust me if you have any will to do so, you WILL NOT be dissappointed.

Jimmy S. has this VERY dishwasher in his basement recreation room. Over on the far south wall, behind the L shaped couch for those who may need a refresher, and do not have a vivid memory as I do..

It is a Youngstown Kitchens, white, top loading, with a round window lid ( TO SEE WASH ACTION), one single dial on the front facia, looks to be either a portable or a built in. All the original shipping boxes were inside, all the chrome racks, and many things looked as if the machine had never been used. From the lack of any water stains, or rust/mineral deposits ( which Michigan has BTW), it really looked beautiful...

And the original owners manual was there...

Here's the information that I have if you wish to try for it...

The Salvation Army

8525 Telegraph (US-24)

Dearborn Heights, Michigan 48127

Phone number 313-724-0728

Travel information....about 15 minutes west of Downtown Detroit, and a half hour or better from Ann Arbor, fair crime area, but is on a MAJOR north south artery, and is close to I-94 and I-96

Good luck if you dare to try...

OMG! That is way too rare a find to pass up! I hope someone in the Detroit area can snag it. I swear that if anything like that ever turned up at the Sally Army in Montreal, I'd risk divorce and buy it without hesitation!
Someone on the board was looking for one not so long ago, too (but I think they wanted the dishwasher/sink combo).

I would really love to have this Youngstown Dishwasher in my collection, but I can't make the 9 hour drive from Illinois to pick it up. I phoned them about it - they are only asking $99 for it. It's first come, first to buy. Anybody else in the Detroit area that could do the buying and picking up for me?

Mike

Sounds like the model in this Youngstown commercial movie.

YES!!!!!!

That is the exact model that is featured, for sale at the Sally Ann I've notated above. I can't begin to tell you how nice it is....

Chad

And as you've found from a call in for the price it's $100.00

Not to shabby if you really have pined for one of them...

Youngstown Dishwasher

Thank you so much PROGRAMCOMPUTER! This isn't the exact Youngstown I'm looking for, but it gives me something to look at until I get the Kitchen sink model I'm looking for!

Thanks also to Dishwashercrazy! In the future, when I get my cabinet/sink/dishwasher combo I would like to pass this along to either of you. It has never been used. Who would keep something like this sitting around for 50 years?

Where did they keep it? Was someone too lazy to install it?
It's sitting in a quiet corner in my parents basement now; it would be a shame now to mess with all its original packaging.

It's kind of sad though, it was never used. I love the vintage washing-machines here, and pictures of them working!

Thanks to everyone also, in my continuing search for a Youngstown Kitchen Sink/Dishwasher Combo!

You are quite welcome Lonestar1947. I will certainly be happy to add this Youngstown Dishwasher to my collection when you are ready to pass it on. I'll keep searching for a Youngstown Electric Sink.

I sure wish that the Youngstown Electric Sink that I found in Goliad, Texas had not been completely gutted when it was converted into a garden station. That's right - racks, tower, pump, motor and heater are gone! When I spoke with the owner back in July, I learned that this Kitchen restoration had been done about four years ago. I've included the link in case anybody wants to read the history of the house.

Youngstown Electric Sink by Mullins

Thought we would share a picture of our Youngstown unit that we recently installed. It is a restored New Old Stock unit. We still need some help with the dishwasher wiring and the linkage that opens the lid, but the sink and disposer are used daily.

Wow, thanks for sharing the picture with us. Your kitchen is beautiful! Good luck with the remainder of your restoration on the Dishwasher. Please keep us updated on your progress.

Wonderful Kelvinator refrigerator and Youngstown dishwasher......I have complete service manuals if you need copies. That dishwasher is a keeper for sure! (I have the non sink model, NOS never used also) I LOVE IT>!

Thanks for the kind words about our kitchen. We lived in this house for 23 years with a dark and ugly kitchen. We have added a picture of our 1947 Frigidaire range also. It was NOS too. We bought it at the same old store that was going out of business 18 years ago where we got the Youngstown Kitchens Electric Sink. We are glad we finally have them installed.

Your range is the exact same range as Classiccaprice just put in his house, except that his doesn't have the clock added to it--which he's looking for, so watch your clock lol. That is a beautiful range, simiplistic and style and have STYLE. Are the racks in the dishwasher covered with red plastic vinyl? My "grandparents" had the same electric sink setup and I remember their racks were red coated, not the plain metal I've seen most places. Theirs may have been one of the last of the series though.

Yes, we would appreciate copies of service manuals for our Youngstown dishwasher and Kelvinator refrigerator. We would be happy to cover your cost of copying and sending them. Our Frigidaire range wiring was all mixed up when we got it (it works great now except we need one burner). Because we bought the range and the Youngstown unit at the same place we think that there may be a problem with the dishwasher wiring also. We could use a wiring diagram for the dishwasher and also a picture of the linkage near the timer that opens the lid. The lower part of our linkage is missing. We think that we can possibly make the remainder of the linkage if we could see how the original worked.
