Mine has light gray gaskets around the top. KD2P is the model. The construction has not ever been matched. The entire dishwasher is porcelain inside and out with a double-walled tank. It is far deeper (top to bottom) than the front loading KA machines. It actually holds more than the last KA portable the KD7A which my mom has in her apartment. While at least one section of the top rack has to be removed for loading, you also have the option of leaving a section, or all three, out to make room for very tall items in the lower rack. I have loaded mine almost like a top load washing machine with tall cookie sheets and mixing paraphernalia (from GK parapherna meaning the goods a bride brings over and above her dowry. Who loves ya' Toggle?) all heaped in it, arranged to permit water circulation, but with, maybe, only one side section to hold measuring cups, etc.
Because of no element to heat water and no pre rinse (or detergent dispenser) I advance the dial to the first rinse and use that as the pre-wash, then advance the timer back to the start position, add detergent and let her wash. With the dishes and tank warmed up, the washing is amazingly effective. I keep one of the little baskets of Jet Dri inside so the rinsing and drying are great, also. Depressing the start button just below the lid latch advances the timer into the first increment of the cycle, a one minute flush with the inlet valve and drain pump activated. It also "unlocks" the timer so that it can be advanced manually.
