Hi gang.
Just got back from the local Salvation Army. Bought an EBCO-OASIS dehumidifer model SD-32. Looks 1950's
Can anyone figure out when it was made?
I needed an extra dehumidifier for the basement. Works perfectly and looks like it has never been used. Very quiet. Must rewire though...
Very curious about the date though.

Mom still has the Oasis dehumidifier running in her basement. Dad bought it in the late 50's as I was quite young I remember. I'll take a look at it tomorrow if I get over there. Looks wise, it's tall and thin, more tower shaped, not a squat box shape like most. It's sort of a white color. The bucket hangs on the back but does not and never had an auto shutoff so you have to be diligent about emptying it if you don't have it sitting over a drain with a garden hose piece connected. Amazingly it still looks like its a new piece of machinery not a vintage piece. Has never required repair

The only ones i ever saw where of 70's vintage and where very loud... I had a cold spot dehumidifier in my room way back when i moved into the basment at age 12...When it frosted over, grams chuked it (whish she never had, it was very quite and useful and worked)and bought a Kenmore that was recalled and we later stopped using it cause it was crappy and never worked right. I then got a used White westing house from 1991 and used that until it was destroyed during the 2004 floods (it was laying atop my neighbors Passat, they didn't have sense enough to move both there cars druing the first evacuation like me!)

Sounds the same

Thanks for the reply. The unit I have is tower-shaped. Has a white vinyl covering and gold grille. Actually it is quite attractive. Indeed it has no method of determining if the attached reservoir is filled. Doesn't matter to me though, I'll drain directly.
Thanks for confirming 1950's vintage.
The thing is sure built to last! The only plastic in the unit is the knob, drain trough and cord strain relief!
