In the Lauren Bacall thread someone asked if Andy Elias is still there and yes it appears he is still around: http://www.elgotkitchens.com/about_us/

Purchased our first Wallmaster from Elgot when moved to Manhattan and did some appliance shopping there off and on over the years, but quite frankly their prices were a tad on the high side IMHO. They did have Miele back in the day as well as Malber and Creda front loading washing machines and matching dryers, so there was something. But so did other places including my favourite in the East Village, Gringer and Sons. http://gringerandsons.com/

Looking back though old "New York Magazine" adverts cannot believe how the appliance dealer world in NYC both high, middle and low end has emptied out. Bloom and Krup are gone. On the other end so is Crazy Eddie, the Wiz, Circuit City, and scores of smaller independent shops.

Elgot like Gracious Home caters to a select UES, UWS market. I'd rather get a better deal elsewhere and save some pennies.
