This washer came into work today, now I know it is a Hotpoint but i have never seen one of these before.

As you can see the door surround is broken but could be repaired, plus the glass mounting clips are broken

Anyone know how old it is?

Holy shit!!!!

My Aunty Carole had the matching dryer to that machine. Its also a set thats on our wishlist to own.

Its late 80's but IIRC rran into the early 90's too.

Its a keeper!!!!!!!!

he is right

that is one fantastic looking machine, ive never seen one of those before, ios there any way you could attach the door, id love to see what the ful machine would have looked like, thanks phil

Door

Hello Phil

I agree with your comments about looks, in fact i would go as far to say that I think it is better looking than the Hotpoint machines of the time (ducks to avoid flying tub weights)

I cannot re-assemble the door so it stays sorry

Collection

Rob I can bring this back this weekend as i am working, but i wont have the room to put in the car with everything else next weekend

The patio is full with the AEG TD so we need to work out how we are going to get move it out of my garage.

How do Gary.

English Electric 1545, based on the Hotpoint 95490 1000 New Generation machine and an exclusive sold through Comet and Woolworths! apparrently!!!!

Certainly different, although have always thought the dials are a tad ungainly on them.

Below is the matching dryer in the form of the model 1375....

and its wet stablemate in the form of the 1535 800 washer, although weirdly this one is branded Hotpoint...

I will let you and Rob sort transit out - the thought is hurting my brain!
Havnt the foggiest how you could get it up here.
Unless you can fit 2 machines in sideways? my car accommodates this, but your mazda is in the fastback style and you might smash your rear screen, on putting the boot down.
Other than that.....ermmm?

Paul

packing

Hello Paul

here is what i have to bring:
Bendix td
Hoover Freezer
Spinnarinse for mat
Mikes Servis ?
Umpteen vacs
Your bits (dishwasher racks etc)
and i am not sure i can get that lot in!!!

Bloody hell.

Yep - that is rather a lot and I too doubt you will get it all in there, despite the size of your car.

THE ROOF!

Just kidding.

Leave it (if you do take it home/to garage) and the dishwasher racks - we will sort something out. Can discuss when we see you.

Paul

ps...

beware that facia Gary.

Touch it and it will crack to pieces.
Dont want your fingers getting cut - and I mean that sincerely!

Paul

cuts

lol Paul, my hands are a mass of cuts.........bloody work.

strangely the fascia seems flexible i had to grab it a few times whilst moving it, though the white strips are standard hotpoint brittle.

Ok ill pick it up this weekend

RATS

Hello Rob & Paul

sorry to tell you this but the English Electric is broken badly......

I left it around the back of the skips with a note left for Fridays staff saying to leave it as i would collect it this Saturday.......

There was also a Hotpoint 1st edition around there for some one else.

One of the numpty Friday staff has decided that the Hotpoint is a keeper and the EE without its door missing and lid loose has been dumped by a member of the public and brought it back to the WEEE skip and chucked it in, cracking the fascia.........oh for Fek sake!.........in a way i can be blamed because i just said a washing machine, thinking that the other one was already known about.

So here we are then sorry lads, i can save the soap draw

Gary
