Hi everyone, I've been working on redesigning the way photos are uploaded and viewed on the automaticwasher and Vacuumland.

Please note this test is only view-able on the non-mobile version of the site. And this test is only valid in this thread. Once I get everything working I will turn it on for every thread and the mobile version as well.

My goals for this project are the following:

#1 Allow users to upload more than one photo at a time.

#2 When a user uploaded more than one picture into a single post, only show one picture at a time and let users scroll through the pictures one at a time by clicking on the red arrows or clicking on the picture itself. This will reduce load times for threads with lots of pictures.

#3 Have pictures displayed in a special photo viewer that will shrink the picture in the post so you can see the entire picture all at once without having to scroll down. I've added a See Full Size link (in the gray bar above the picture viewer) if you want to see the picture at it's full size. When you click full size for now you will only see that picture, but eventually in future updates I want to make it so you can scroll through the pictures in full size mode.

Attention iPad and iPhone users, at this time you can load pictures directly from your phone or iPad, but if you transfer them to your computers hard drive you have to save them as a .jpg format before uploading them, otherwise they wont go. I will be working on that as well in future updates.

Hold please, more coming...

OK below is the new picture viewer. Please scroll through the pictures, you can click on the red arrows to scroll through them or click on the right side of each picture to go forward.

Also please see the new photo uploader box at the bottom. I need help testing this so if you guys wouldn't mind please try uploading some photos. Let me know what you think and if/when you find any bugs please report them here. So upload some fun pictures for me (please nothing controversial).

I wanted to post a few pictures of my new sideboard, but there is a picture of it in the livingroom, that is in another map. I selected two pictures with the Ctrl button, but after they loaded, it says 2 files queued (vaguely) but I don't see Add files anymore. Is that how it is supposed to be? (See below).

Hi Louis, yes for now, you can only select one round of pictures to upload per "Update and Preview". That will be changed in phase 2. If you want to add more pictures you can preview and then add more to the end or if you have already posted them go into edit mode and add more, up to 20 pictures. Try editing you post and add more pictures to it.

And the best part is there are now 22 photos in this post (as of this moment) and yet at first it only has to load three of them! I removed you other post as a test.

Yes once you have selected files and put them in the "Add Photo's Here" box, you can then drag the files around to whatever order you want them to show in.

If you upload them and realize you have made a mistake you can delete the entire segment of photos and try again in either preview or edit modes, obsioulsy edit mode is only available to upgraded members.

So, basically it is upload one photo, then hit preview, then load another photo, then hit preview, and so on, until you are finished loading photos, then hit post.

Unless, you are able to hold down the Shift key and select several at a time (sequentially), or hold down the Control key and select several at a time (non-sequentially)?

It might help to explain that a bit further in the instructions. Otherwise, it was easy to use and seems to work great!

Hi Doug, you are correct and no you don't have to do that at all. All you have to do is hold the shift key down to select a range of files, or hold the control key down to select specific files in your directory/folder. Just like in any other program on your computer. I will give a further explanation before I make it site wide.

testing to send just text......

tried with photos...and nothing happpens once I hit post...

edit...wait there it goes....I had to hit post without preview....

Mine won't post

I have tried a couple of times to post but when I click to post the screen flashes and nothing happens.  I tried 7 photos at abou 9MB.  I see the preview and everything but they just won't post.

Hmmmm, that's why I wanted to test this way. May I ask what kind of format are the photos. Are they jpg? Also what browsers are you guys using?
