F&P aquasmart on sheets cycle (questions)

So I was watching things and stuff and let autoplay do its thing and came upon this video....

After the main wash fill and drain, there are a series spins and sprays before a rinse fill...

Is the purpose of this to act like the action of wringing a rag out under runniny water? To get the excess soap and debris out before doing a fill rinse?

(Watching this cycle, if my LG top loader had functioned like this, I probably would have kept it.) I kept watching this cause we do carry the brand and I am looking for reasons to sell them, since I was so disappointed in my experience with the top-load machine I had.

Oh, and out of curiosity, do the tubs float on the f&p machines like they do on the maytags and whirlpools? The float/load sense thing?

I guess best selling points are:

- HE and traditional washing capable.
- Advantage of true hot wash with usage of verry little hot water due to the EcoActive phase (filling and soaking with hot water, then recirculating, then filling with cool water for the wash phase) and actual 100% true hot wash with the allergy setting.
- Adjustable warm water temperature via settings.
- Several rinsing systems and pretty good spray rinse layout.
- Some of these have both automatic and manual load size selection.

F&P engineered the toploader floating basket design more than 20 years ago with their SmartDrive/direct-drive machines. Whirlpool used/licensed the design for the Oasis/Cabrio/Bravos.

The F&P AquaSmart is the exact reason I bought the Maytag Bravos XL. It quite literally is an AquaSmart with aesthetic differences. The F&P SmartDrive AquaSmart and the Whirlpool Oasis are hands-down the best top loading HE design, and in my opinion the only HE TL worth even considering.

On the spray rinse, is a way of explaining that to the customer like I was initially thinking? The purpose is like putting a rag under running water and wringing it out (The rotation spray then the fast spin)?

Also, I notice that not a lot of machines do a spray rinse and a final fill rinse? Do the F&P machines do that with every cycle, or is that a fabric softener selection?

I wished I could find some decent videos of the wp/mt cabrio/bravos machines. The only videos I find have the user sitting there holding the cam, sticking his hands in all the time, talking, moving stuff around and not just letting the machine work.... I don't have the patience to watch that. On, and that doesn't even touch the subject of all the fabric softeners and fragrance additives.... What is that going to do for long term? (It is nice to see that someone has taken the time to upload all of the videos, but it just doesn't help me for what I'm looking to learn.)

Oh, I should ask... With F&P coming up with the floating basket, do the F&P machines have issues with the tub seizing on the shaft?

I did take a pair of 18-month old bravos machines home, the users had an issue with the tub not floating, we cleaned the shaft, the machine worked for a bit then did it again. They said they weren't going to deal with this so I sold them a pair of new speed queens.

I needed to put a pair of machines in the old rental I had, so I had a senior tech look at the machines, he found out the junior tech didn't do as great of a job cleaning the shaft. The customer wasn't interested in keeping the machines when I contacted them, so I had them repaired and placed them in the rental. The tech said you'd think they'd have a Teflon coating or something on the shaft to avoid this problem. He said that all the WP/MT machines like this do this... Its our most common tl repair call.

I am good friends with the tenant using the machines, so I'm gonna go over and play with them when time allows but still, its good to get views from everywhere.

That rag rinsing is a good way to picture it to a customer. That way, you could for example point out why that works perfectly fine for thiner items (shirts, socks etc.) and not that well for bulkier items (jeans, towels): If they ever had to wring out a pair of jeans by hand, they'll understand.

Not sure if it is true for the US machines, but for Australia, the Spray&#92Deep sequence is standard, but Eco rinse is avaible, which replaces the deep rinse with another spray rinse sequence (which AFAIK is 6 spin spray follow ups).

The WP isn't that close to the F&P system.
F&P does use more water for the recirc and used to use 1 pump with a diverter valve, while the Oasis used less water, added spin sequences, and had 2 seperate pumps.
The Oasis fills with water at selected temp, while the F&P uses cold water for the main fill.
The F&P fill flume is entirely different.
The F&P has an adjustable ATC.

My 1999 GWL08 agitator toploader and 2004 IWL12 agitator toploader have had no incidents of a stuck basket.  However, I recently helped someone on another discussion board who had that problem with a 10-ish to 12-ish years old machine, either an IWL12 or GWL11, I now don't recall.

The shower rinse function is standard on most U.S. EcoSmart models for the Normal and Heavy cycles.  Softener Rinse option changes it to "standard" spin-sprays (at 300 RPM, with 670 RPM extractions) and an agitated deep rinse.

GWL08 has "Water Saver" rinses as an option. It does two deep rinses on Delicate and Perm Press.

My IWL12 is vice-versa, it does spin-sprays and a deep rinse by default, with the shower rinse being an option.  There's also an adjustment for how much water is used for the showering ... more or less water saving.  Also two deep rinses on Creasables (perm press).

F&P toploaders tend to have a LOT of options (particularly the IWL series).  There are options on various models for setting the non-eco rinse to the "normal" spin-sprays and one deep rinse, or two deep rinses (I think with no sprays).

My IWL12 on the Muddy cycle (which begins with a 5-min cold prewash and drain) does a crapload of rinsing -- spin-sprays after the wash, two deep rinses, and more sprays (repeat of the post-wash sequence) at beginning of the final spin.  Allergy cycle may do the same (without the prewash), don't recall if I've ever run it.

Ah yes, I have seen his videos. He uses a lot! of products and often also prewashes his clothes.

The new Cabrios don't seem to spray rinse. There is a new video on CruellaUrsula's channel where he shows the spray rinse, which is just the machine peeing on the clothes a little after the wash water has drained. The Extra Rinse on the newer Cabrios is, from what I can tell by watching his videos, indeed a full deep(-ish) fill plus spin and not this Extra Drizzle that the previous CaBravos did.

Other than that, I am not impressed by the rinse cycle on the current ones. The recirc spray does not work during the brief rinse cycle, which often lead this YouTuber to use his "wash stick" to push items under water.

Oh okay!! I didn't catch that at first. I was like "YOU MEAN ALL THAT WORK I DID AND EVERYONE IGNORES IT?!?" Haha. Yes, I agree about the new Cabrio videos though. I appreciate the dude getting glimpses of the machine but it would be much more enjoyable to just see a full cycle without commentary.

I don't understand the point... How the heck would a machine with that capacity move the items enough to get them clean if it were filled to the gills? And you know people are going to dump basket after basket in them.

Aww dude! Thanks haha. I was totally being sarcastic about it though. Truly.

I can't imagine that large a washer being effective or even necessary. Remember when Whirlpool's 3.6 cu.ft tub was considered "Extra Large Capacity" and was suitable for families of four? My BrOasis is 4.8 and honestly it's enormous even for when company is staying an extended time. If the impeller and drive system can move the load around effectively and the components are designed to withstand that kind of weight and force, then by all means, godspeed, but I'm skeptical of that actually being the case.
