Todays find for me was an older Fairfax vacuum-found at the local Rainbow dealer-someone traded it in toward his new Rainbow. In the process of starting to clean it up-looks like it was stored in an attic or basement for awhile. It came with a carpet tool, wands, wet pickup tool, and crevice tool, dust brush. The most interesting attachment is a floor machine-you put the powerdome on top of it and the motor shaft in the powerdome engages a driveshaft in the polisher. The driveshaft has a capstan friction drive to the polisher brush.Haven't tried it yet.The nameplate on the unit says it was built in Canada. No power nozzle jack on the powerdome.Has an all chromed steel body.It will need the polishing wheel! Its a neat find.

Congrats Rex, Sounds like an interesting find. I`ve never heard of the brand before, but you said it was Canidian. Their Electrolux vacs look diffrent too. I saw a modle 89 on ebay a while back.do You have a room you keep all your vacs in?

the machine I have was built in Canada-under "Fairfax Industries",from Maryland Hgts,Mo. the very first machines were built in Wash. DC in a small factory that was in--Fairfax Va.A Virginia suburb just southwest of Wash DC.I don't have one room that I keep my vacs in-they are in just about EVERY room of my house-one of my freinds remarked if I keep getting more vacs and other appliances-"you will need a castle" to keep them in!
The machine I have looks like the ones in Gansky 1's link-and the one that I have below-It shows a picture of the floor machine attachment-Lesters machine looks like it must of never been Used!!Even had the original boxes-the box mine came in is rotted-was thinking of cutting out the panel on it that has the Fairfax logo. The filter bags and filters it used were under the name--"Toss-A-Filt"catchy name for the bag and filter.I have a newer Fairfax machine(like the ones built today)that has a plastic tank instead of that beautiful chromed one!The machine used a paper bag and a paper disc filter above the bag.The machine I have someone used it without the bag or filter!!Slurped out the dust and dirt with the National M1-then will go from there. The chrome on mine is a little pitted-but I would think it would polish up OK.Just need to find my buffing wheel and rouge!Oh yes mine came with the ball valve that is shown in the Gansky1 link.this is for if you want to use the machine for wet pickups. You would remove the paper filters and put in the valve instead-the valve kept the water out of the motor.and the motor on mine runs beautifully-purrs nicely.Mine isn't as nice as the one in the Lester Link-but similar.Looks like his is from someone that bought it years ago-used it once and put it in the closet for all of that time!
