Good fortune rained again on me today. I went into the Sally Ann not figuring on finding anything there as usual and was just turning to leave when I turned around for one last look and saw this loveseat sitting there crowded amidst some other awful looking furniture. Well when I get up close I notice it's actually teakwood but there's no price tag on it. I call one of the sales girls over who takes a look but has no idea so she calls her supervisor over all the while I'm chanting to myself,,price it cheap, price it cheap. One of them sez to the other..."I think it's real wood" and my heart skips a beat so I pull the bottom cushions off so they can see "it's just cheap webbing on the fram like a lawnchair", so she says, "how about thirty dollars" and I said "oh ok then" in a somewhat disillusioned tone. I didn't want them to see that the backside behind the cushions is all teak spindles. Meanwhile I was jumping for joy inside.. LOL It's Danish and in impeccable condition.. YAY. What this means now is that I've less room in here so I will now have to overtake bedroom #2 downstairs or else re-do the whole downstairs family room.
Of course the one I live with doesn't know this yet..when he saw it coming off the truck "oh what's that now" and "how much can you get for that" Like I'm gonna sell it HA !!

Hey Pete!

Looks like your appliance room is coming together very quickly. Love the constellations on either side of the new loveseat. If the one you live with gives you any trouble just say "Yes dear". It always worked for me and that was for 21 years. Before you know it the appliances will start falling out into other areas of the house. Just ask Charlie. Legend has it amoungst the vacuum folks that he has a secret chamber under the stairs that he hides things in. He denies it, but we know better. Looks like you will soon become a dealer in vintage pristine fifties furniture. Congratulations. If you need any help in arranging things, just invite the vacuum folks up for a visit. Before you know it, everything will be rearranged!

Wait a minute....

Pete...can you show a picture of the seat area of the frame? Is the webbing you speak of kind of like round rubber cords that snake around back and forth front to back?

My parents have two danish chairs from the early 60s, never got rid of them. They were always in the family room with my infamous blue recliners. They look like 1/2 your loveseat! The arms may be a little different, but I wonder if they are the same company. That would be amazing. Do show if you can. If it's not, it is very similar, and very very cool.

Seat cushions

Pete,

Are you sure those cushions aren't from the front and back seat from a 1976 Buick Electra? They look suspiciously familiar!
That crushed velour appearance-----gives me all kinds of chills thinking of what went on in the back seat.

And, yes, Fred, is correct. Under my staircase I have air hammered beneath the concrete slab and tunnelled down 2 stories into the ground and have a 2500 sq. foot secret room to house my secret collection of vacuums. I'm adding an elevator next month and starting a tunnel to connect to Fred's basement in Chicago.

You must drop in for a dig when you pass through Charlotte.

wow Charlie

you're right about that upholstry... tuft it in a diamond pattern, add some buttons, and that looks alot like the seats of a 1976 Buick Electra 225 Limited.

Oh Charlie,As soon as you have the elevator installed can we all come and play in your new vacuum room.LOL And Pete, Fred is right, just invite the vac folks up and we will whip those rooms right into shape!! Terry

Kevin, here's a pic of the couch uncovered but it's webbing.
Charlie:
It's a heavily guarded secret but I don't think people around here are the type to blab so I'll tell you all. In my first marriage (yes I'm a divorcee twice, that's the secret) we bought a 75 Electra but it was blue with white vinyl top and white vinyl interior.. I lost it in the divorce of 78 and he ruined it. Fortunately I do run into him occasionaly where I'm more than happy to point out in as kind a way as possible, I have always had a kind word for everyone, that while I no longer have the Electra, nor does he and that I still have my hair and he does not and that it looks good on him (that's the being kind part even though it's not true LOL )

BTW I put little Ben in the photo for those who may not appreciate fine furniture or vintage vacuums etc. However if they don't like dogs either then to H with them..haha

Pete: I too, have the chair version of your loveseat. Frankly, I'd prefer the loveseat (easier to snuggle with a weiner dog), but what can you do? Have the matching ottoman as well. Mine are made by Dux. I recovered the cushions myself.

You can see one of the chairs (I think) in my Official Beauty Contest Entry Photo.

BTW, they turned me down.

Well, if they don't like your vacuum room,

AND they don't like your chairs, AND they don't like your puppikis, then to H with them I agree! Plenty of intersting things in that shot.

This is different webbing completely Pete, and the chair really has less similarities to my parents. However, it is of that same era and style with the loose cushions, and I like it. My parents versions were probably slightly cheaper as they had that rubberized cord I told you about vs. that hefty webbing--but all these years that cord has been just fine. Wonder if it is steel in a spring arrangement inside...hmmm.

The Wakefield Version

I have a danish modern looking set on my sunporch that is very similar, but it's a Heywood Wakefield set and I believe it to be walnut and not teak. But it's pretty much identical looking except that my HW set had wider arms on it. And the webbing only goes one way, front to back, with no side to side webbing.
