This pair arrived on Wednesday and I've been cleaning and polishing and waxing since then. They cleaned up very well, washer works good - no leaks - one wierd noise (more later). These are the photos that the seller posted, when I get fresh batteries for my camera I'll take "after" shots. This is the pair that Ken (bajaespuma) found on the Boston CL.

Washer Now

Cleaned up nicely. There was a fair amount of latex paint spattered on it. It had been sitting in an alcove, behind bifolding doors; I suspect whatever painting took place around the washer, without it (or the dryer) being moved.

Dryer Now

Ditto for the dryer. The top has not been treated kindly and arrived with a fair amount of rust on it. I've removed the rust and polished the top, I think it will be fine. Someday I might find a donor dryer with a better-looking top, and switch out the tops.

Under the hood

I lifted the top and removed the lid. It wasn't in bad condition, but it's cleaner now. I don't think this pair has moved until this trip. I think they were delivered to a condo/townhouse when they were new and have stayed there all this time, with one owner. So they really only showed "normal" wear and tear for 30+ years.

Money shot

Interior of washer, with white ramped agitator. This washer has the 'mini-basket' feature, but arrived without the basket. Both the seller and the shipper deny any explanation as to what happened to it (I have my own theory). I know where one is for sale, but the asking price for the mini-basket is more than I paid for this pair. I'm not sure that I would ever actually USE the mini-basket, but I would like to have it.

Aferim! BOL style with TOL features; what more does one need

Very glad you got them. I was tempted, but I am, literally, running out of space so I have promised myself I won't go after anything that's white, or isn't on my list (which is still pretty large).

Finding a mini-basket that will fit a standard capacity GE (what they used to call, 12, 14 and 16-pound capacities)is extremely difficult. I'm still looking for a green one that fits the spiral activator. BTW that's a rare activator on your machine. It's a transitional design between their old style with the familiar slotted GE cap and the newer minimalist (boo, hissssss) ones.

They look like they were well taken care of. Every time I find a Filter Flo at one of the 2nd hand appliance stores they are always marked sold :-(
