Beautiful turquoise Westinghouse stack pair

I would love to have this pair for the museum, but don’t think I’m gonna go after it because of the distance, this is the original design that came out around 1964 of these completely redesigned stack machines from Westinghouse.

They are very repairable because they continue to use the same partsthrough 1989 and belt, etc. can still be found for these machines they look to be in great shape.

Thanks Glenn, for blowing up the model number tags, There was also a turquoise pair of these in gas in the Chicago area recently. I don’t know if anybody here got them and I think there was a pair of turquoise down south a few years ago as well.

Don't believe we know a soul (as in member) anywhere close to that part of Saskatchewan. Even from closest US border states (Washington, Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota...) Moose Jaw still would be a long drive there and back.

Then there is fact IIRC one would have to pay duty on things brought back across border. This in addition to sales and other taxes/fees levied by auction house.

Auction house does state they have an international shipper, but one shudders to think what shifting large appliances down south would cost.

Once ordered a small packet of sewing bits from an auction in Canada. Figured how horrible could shipping be? (I'm an idiot aren't I?). For a small tiny envelope shipping was nearly $15 when all was said and done. Never again...

Shame really as there are some really great things at this auction. Moose Jaw does look beautiful though, maybe one day will take a trip and see what there is.

Price Realized: 450.00 CAD

Or $328.36 USD

Not to bad. Usually only Maytag WWs in states go for that much. Even then usually it is a unique or rare specimen.

Knew wringer washers were (and or still are) popular up north, but one didn't foresee that Maytag going for such a tidy sum.

One thing rather fancy about HBid and similar auction platforms is they use same "soft closing" as in live in person bidding.

If bids come in during final three or so minutes auction is automatically extended for another several minutes to give someone else time to place higher bid. This conceivably can go on for quite some time as two or more persons attempt to place highest bid. Only when three minute clock ticks down to nil seconds does bidding end and auction starts closing.

Beauty of this system is it eliminates snipers.

OTOH down side is if persons aren't careful they can get caught up in the moment and bid over their head. Once hammer falls that's it, whatever one won is yours. *LOL*

First 27 inch wide Westinghouse Front load washers

When they changed to the slimmer 27 inch width all Westinghouse front load washers, had side, swing doors for a couple years. Then they went back to the drop door and the weigh to save built-in scale feature.

Even though these are Canadian models, the only difference I see is there’s a built-in circuit breaker for the washing machine. We didn’t have that in the US, In the US, the machine said separate cords on them and you didn’t have them on one circuit. So each circuit was fused appropriately for each machine.

Is $450 a lot for the Maytag wringer?
I guess it depends how bad you want it. This sale was deep in Mennonite country so I bet the bidding was fierce.
Went to a Mennonite sale once and there was three wringers up for grabs. All Simplicity models.
I didn't stand a chance bidding. Those ladies were going to get them no matter what.
For spite I kept bidding even though I only had $100 with me. Got the washer up to $900. Still couldn't get it.
