Finish Powerballs

Automatic Washer - The world's coolest Washing Machines, Dryers and Dishwashers

Help Support :

"Semi Chem" stores sell the "Max in 1" Finish (dissolving wrapper), 28 tabs PLUS 28 FREE, for £4.99.

Tesco, as usual, stick two fingers up at the consumer and sell 28 tabs "Max in 1" for £7.50.

Callum,

I feel I ought to stick up for Tesco here, not because im an employee but becaue they may have every right to sell them at that price.

I cant help but think the larger chains and stores selling items pay more to the manufacturers than the local independants and smalls for the product.

Go figure, Tesco - Millions of shoppers everyday, folk who just shove it in their trolley regardless cos they want stuff. More customers so more chance of them buying a product, Manufacturer takes advantage of this and battles it out on a cost price between them and the big 5 stores, R&B charge say £5 a box.

Guaranteed to sell it- most folk I know wont go into town for a box of dishwasher tablets. Even the other things Savers sell, dont usually warrant a special trip to most people despite the price. Its hassle, car parking fees etc etc.

Coop, or local independant or this case Semi Chem ( Savers in Britain), Manufacturers know they wont get the footfall for certain products in the quantity the Big 5 sell in but still a sale is a sale, therefore Mr Independant/Small chain gets a good price of £2.50 and is able to sell them for £5 a box.

Both companies get £2.50 a box profit but actually the manufacturer has ripped the consumer off.

I think this happens more than one might think,

Tesco

I was told by staff in Semi Chem that they can still make a profit on their lower price, so Tesco must be raking it in.

Also, isn't it the case that branded goods manufacturers have to pay a fee to the supermarkets in order to secure eye-level shelf space and other displays?

In my view, Tesco are just too greedy, what with their dalliances into car insurance, banking, and my mother tells me, beauty parlours in the larger English stores.

I also understand that they are temporarily closing a dozen stores in America due to the current economy being unprofitable.

I disagree.........................

I have found that the tabs work BETTER than Quantum. I generally use two tabs in a Heavy Wash cycle, and still use Finish Jet Dry in the dispenser. I don't know why, but Quantum did not clean as well, and left residue on my dishes, and spots, where the regular Powerball Tabs did not.

Powerball works(cleans) very well for me and so does Quantum.  Finish powder also works very well,  although it does not claim to have any type of rinse aid/anti streak properties - it cleans well and I can adjust the amount used to the soil level.  I do find that many times when using the Powerball my  DW will add a 3rd rinse which makes me suspect that these balls might be a bit sudsy.

Powerballs are my daily drivers, too. I have mechanically (read: very) soft water, and they work really well, even on pots/pans. My worst pots/pans loads get Cascade Complete gel in a large dose. I've never tried using two Powerballs for those loads. I'll give it a try tonight and see if it can match the cleaning of Cascade Complete.

One caveat: All my 9" x 13" aluminum baking pans have gone "gun metal gray." I don't mind it; in fact, I think it helps with browning. But for those who like their aluminum light and gleaming, it may be a deal-breaker.
