A similar, single fill device was used in those stoneage rotorack Zanussi like this REX (image from an old thread of PLC Forum, device is missing in this one).

It has to be the most un-needed gadget of the year!

Look at the first 'publicity' video: the gadget appears to be installed in the top basket - minus the cup racks! I don't know about you, but I need all available space for the dishes, crockery and glassware.

I wonder exactly, which problem this gadget 'solves'? All modern machines to my knowledge, have automatic dispensers that dispense the detergent at the right time.

Maybe it is the save the poor harassed user some valuable time in loading detergent? For all the time that takes!!

I agree, moisture is bound to enter the device; the mechanism will likely stick, jam or fail and probably allow detergent to linger into the final rinse.
