Fire in the Tub

Well, Greg, as you can see, it is UL rated which I have always taken to mean it is safe to use underwater. You know, UL, U-Boat, etc. I take it that by "who makes it" you are suggesting that it was not made by Firestone. I will probably be opening it up when I have some time. Maybe someone left a card <br
Gary, because of my "visibility" stuff like this just walks in. A guy pulled up with this unit and a Kenmore rocket in the back of his pickup. He was cleaning out a basement. I post pictures here in case someone wants to scream before I take power tools to it. I used to post pics in Vacuumland but I am an official 'Persona non Grata' over there. A lower latin term is 'hobo ejectus' (the bum's rush).

Well, Mark, a bum's rush from them...

is almost a recommendation for you. Between the racists and the killer queens, I have reached the point where I use a proxy to visit their site
What is with those people? I would think they'd be happy to share and discuss all those wonderful vacuums. We may have our disagreements here - and I am the first to admit, I don't always play as nicely as I should, but, gosh golly gee
Anyway, was this vacuum a premium which Firestone gave away for buying whitewalls? Or did they offer a whole range of appliances? Was it a similar solution to keep the assembly lines going like Frigidaire for GM
Do, please post pictures of the innards

I do know at one time

Firestone stores offered a full line of household goods. An aunt had a Firestone Hi-Fi years ago (60s), and I believe they were all just re-brands. Goodyear also sold whitegoods and electronics, too. I don't remember if BFGoodrich did, though <br <br

What is with those people?</i <br
Okay, I take offense to that... ((Being one of the regular posters on VacuumLand) <br
First and foremost--The "racists and killer queens" are gone, and that's just the reason "those people" are gone... but the rest of us like discussing vacuums and related things, and sharing in menial banter about whatever. <br
Have you checked the site, recently? There is discussion--happy, joyful, on-topic, non bitchy discussion... going on over there. <br
Mark damn well knows why he was kicked off of that site--because of his lawyer-like in-ability to DROP SOMETHING
You know... the proverbial dead horse <br
Now I don't know all the details of his "official 'Persona non Grata' or 'hobo ejectus' (the bum's rush)"... (nor do I care) but it got to the point where it was stimulating some non-welcomed discussion. That was consensus of the regular posters on VacuumLand. <br

Firestone innards

Whatever <br
Anyway, back to the Firestone for a minute. I opened it up in my garage this evening. The [I don't know the terminology] back cap to the motor, holds rear bearing and brushes, has the following stamped info
I.S. - 1403
5 4
115 V
I will take the guts back to my laboratory tomorrow and photograph them, may have pics up by mid day <br
BTW, Played 18 holes of disc golf with my son this morning. Several inches of mature snow on the ground, temperatures in the 20's. Lit Rocky Patel on the 10th Tee, then chicken curry and shrimp spring rolls for lunch after the 18th. It doesn't get any better than that.

OK...

My giving you a beachhead to draw your club's charming little ways into this site is pointless
So, to preserve the peace, I apologize to all to whom I have given genuine reason to take offense and am signing off on this thread <br

No sweat, Keven

Keven, don't worry about it. It takes several voluntary clicks to get into a thread (especially one with my name on it) and then complain about dead horses. I'll show you pics tomorrow.

My 3am drunken, just home from the gay bars response...

Way to go Fred, thank you for sticking up for Vacuum collectors at the VCCC! <br
Keven I do appreciate your apology and I totally accept it. I don't think referring to the members of Vacuumland or the VCCC as racists and killer queens is fair because I'm "one of them", so is Fred, so is Greg, so is Terry, etc, etc, etc. I really don't think you would say that we are anything like that (at least I hope you don't think we are) <br
Mark, I so loved meeting you in Omaha last September, your creativity is simply amazing and I was/am so impressed with everything you have done. Its people like you who make these clubs great. You are welcome to post vacuum related posts here at aw anytime, and I look forward to them. But please my only request is that you leave the politics out of it, that is best done with private email. Now bring on the Firestone picts, we all want to see them!

What politics?

I looked for a private email but didn't see one. Let me know, by private email if you wish, who can talk politics and who cannot - or at least what you meant by that.

Pics later.
