I am going to have a learning curve here, but this is the maiden wash... The door doesn't seem to shut tight which bugs me.. ANy one else notice this on a ge?

Also unsure how the silverwear will come out like this.. I really like it though... Esp how it wont nest...

Pictures to follow

It has odd sounds... It pauses then washes and so forth...

BTW Im running it on Heavy with Sani Wash and Heated dry with plain powderd cascade

Very nice! Most modern dishwashers do have the pause while washing. They use less water and don't run both arms at the same time. My Frigidaire did that as well...it cleaned great despite. :)

I also have a Frigidaire that alternates and pauses while it washes. I think the reason behind that is to allow the steam from the hot water to help soften stuff that may be dried onto the dishes that are being cleaned.

Except for the longer cycle times being a new machine I haven't been unhappy with it's performance. I normally just run the machine when I go to bed. So its running long isn't an issue.

My parents got the GDF540 not too long ago. Same rack layout and LOTS of silverware storage.
If you choose the right cycles, and don't nest tall silverware under the detergent cup (small spoons only) ... it seems to wash very well, even the silverware on the outer-most row. Just make sure concave surfaces face inward, and it's all good.
Check the filter once a month and rinse clean/rub with fingers, and then you're done.
Good luck!

Oh, and yes, it pauses between washing the racks separately to actuate a mechanical diverter check ball.

FIrst load took 3 hours.. I think the basic cascade powder wont work as well in this machine.. We had a little rice on the door, some schmutz in a bowl and a dirty cookie sheet...Coming from the bosch, its a learning curve loading

Gonna try auto sense and sani wash next round with cascade platinum tabs that came with it
