Kenmore Dryer

I've got the (1953) Kenmore version with matching washer. On the dryer door it says to clean the lint screen after each load but I don't have a clue where the lint screen is. Anybody know? It doesn't seem to be in the drum. Was there an attachment in/on the exhaust hose? Still haven't had much time to play with the dryer yet...

No Screen!

I have a 1956 Kenmore dryer,no lint filter either. The 1955 has one located on the right back under the controls. It pulls up and straight from the back and its large. Bobby

WOW

That is sweet. It could use a good cleaning but I bet it would shine =) I was wonering the same thing about where the lint filter is when I saw the pics. My thought was did they not have them? The vent musta been awful dirty.

Keep it Clean!!!

I take the back off of the dryer every six months,Ive used this dryer ever since 1984.It shoots the lint out of the vent pipe,it seems to have a very strong blower on it,and it says to clean the lint screen also, never found one.It has a drum light and ozone lamp.I thought it was strange also. The dryer stays very clean inside. For 35 dollars I certainly have gotten my moneys worth. Lint Filter in Old AZ Kenmore

I created a thread a while back about an old Kenmore dryer my wife's folks had when she was little, in Phoenix AZ. She said the lint filter was on the bottom, and was an enormous screen that pulled out like a drawer. Her mother used to clean it with a vaccuum cleaner. I'm not sure if WP ever had a bottom-mounted lint filter in their early models, and I'm now thinking that there may have been one type of accessory lint filter that could have been mounted on the bottom for front access, perhaps on the "big boy" models.

I'm no expert on appliances like the rest of you guys but if you look at the picture you will see a metal handle on the right hand side in the back, I believe that is the lint filter.

You're right...

...that definately is the lint trap handle. In the old WP dryers with the belt-driven blower, the blower and lint screen is located on the top right corner. In the later models, even though the blower has been relocated, the filter kept it's place, to the present with many models.
